Wooohooo…happy new year you beautiful, stylish lil ladies (and gents?!). Before I begin this post, I just want to wish you all a very happy and healthy 2014 and I’m excited to continue my blogging journey throughout this year. I feel this year’s going to be a good one. I know where I want to be heading, (even if I’m not sure how to get there yet), but I find a New Year always brings hope, and for me especially, lots of new and fresh motivation to make this year better than the last!
So, lets get started shall we? :). I have been LOVING so much of my makeup recently, and have learn’t how to tone down my every day makeup (see my last fresh faced makeup post here), as well as experiment it up, with bold new looks. I have also been thinking of how I need to bring back the red lip back into my life. Consequently, I bring to you a couple of snaps I took over this weekend, that shows my day time makeup’d face, transformed to night time, by just using slightly different & bolder colours and techniques! See each of my Makeup products listed below the images.
Night time Makeup
Foundation | Rimmel Wake me Up Foundation | 100 Ivory
This foundation is perfect if you want that natural, slightly dewey finish. It’s not too heavy, which I like for the daytime & night time, as you can always add more layers with powder and blusher etc. It’s also a fabulous colour that suits my skin tone perfectly, so if you’re pale like me and don’t want to look at all orange, I would advise going for this affordable foundation, above and beyond the rest!
Powder | Maybelline FIT | 315 Soft Honey
I like to try out new powders every now and again, as stated previously, I’m not a huge fan of the full on cake face! Yet, I have been using this powder more than any others I own. And, at the moment, it’s perfect! Its matte like formula creates almost an airbrushed look upon the face, which is also brilliant when wanting to set my slightly dewey foundation. I apply slightly more powder when creating a night time look.
Bronzer | Benefit Hoopla
Oh. My. Lordy. I cannot rave about this bronzer any more than I am about too! It is beautiful for contouring, creating slight shadow and shape upon and below the cheeks, and overall gives a chic bit of warmth to the face, without again looking orange or too cake. I apply more of this below my cheek bones when going from a day, to night time look, with a small and simply blusher/contour brush.
Highlight | Seventeen Instant Glow | Pink Bronze Shimmer Brick
This stunning compact, is more so to be used as a bronze and looks absolutely breathtaking in the summer, when the sunshine hits your cheeks, yet this is England, and January, so for now, whilst we have artificial lighting gracing our cheek bones, I shall still rave about it as I would back in those summer days. This ‘Brick’ has 4 strips of colour that go from a neutral pink highlight to a glowy warm bronze. To take my makeup from day time to night time, I have applied the pink shades to the tops of my cheek bones and along anywhere, where lighting would hit.
Eyes | Urban Decay – Naked 3 Palette | Seventeen – High Drama Liquid intense eyeliner | Maybelline – The Falsies Volume Express Mascara
I have used the Naked 3 palette, the eye liner and Maybelline’s Mascara in both looks, yet intensified my night time look with extra depth of smokey colour, and a lot of blending! I adore doing eyes, I think it’s my most favourite and ‘fun’ part to ‘do up’. I have been fortunate enough to inherit my mothers long, dark eyelashes, so I get very excited when I can enhance them even more so, with the use of an affordable and quality driven mascara! Also, to define the eyes further, I am a huge fan of liquid liner!
Lipstick | Daytime – Estee Lauder – Rose Tea Creme | Night time – Nars – Heat Wave
Lips are also another element of my face, if you will, that I get excited to colour! I adore trying out new lipsticks and have got more confident in terms of the shades I thought I could never, ever pull off! I have fallen in love with a deeper, warm, peachy lip for the daytime, which include hues of neutral browns within. And, brighter, bolder lip colours to transform from day to night! With a dark smokey lip, I don’t think theres anything that stands out more than a bright red lip to set the look off, and complete it!
Which makeup products do you love to transform your looks from day time to night, or are they quite similar? I’d love to know! Happy New Year again every one, I’m looking forward to this year and the next few posts that are yet to come upon i2style! Big loves, Hollybobs xx
