AW14 Wearable Styling with Gemini-Fashion!

i2style gemini shoot

Gemini – A leading independent stockist, selling contemporary British, Scandinavian and European fashion!

To me, Gemini is THE perfect go-to online store, in terms of finding those all essential wearable pieces, for any type of occasion or season! Since October has gracefully greeted us with its glistening presence, and true leaf-crunching nostalgia, I decided to share a few of my favourite Autumn/Winter items, predominantly from one of Gemini’s most growingly popular ranges, Sandwich-Clothing.

Gemini invited myself and two other babe’in bloggers, Sophie & Steph, into their Studio, where we had the opportunity to style up some of the pieces, shown below. I wanted to showcase a variety of wearable looks, in terms of professional work wear and day wear, which could also be easily transformed into an evening outfit, with just a change in accessories or shoes. Ofcourse, this season’s must have colours, include ones that are magically muted down and wonderfully warm, with the odd pop of cool tones, thrown in for good measure! It’s certainly an exciting time of year, and is one of my favourites, due to the versatility of layering!

I’m also a huge fan of appropriately enhancing a fresh face…which leads me on to the next exciting element of the shoot! The day with Gemini also consisted of some rather insightful hair and makeup prep, created by two lovely ladies, over at Benefit cosmetics and Mathew Curtis hair salon. Consequently, if you’re interested in seeing a separate blog post, focussing upon the latest AW hair & makeup trends, then do let me know in the comments, as i’d love to include some of the advice I was given, from my day too!

So, without further or do, grab a cuppa, load up Gemini, and if you’re interested in a little AW fashion inspo, then do scroll on.

i2style gemini With the added option of higher heels, tights and a leather jacket, take this professional work wear look from day to night! Oh and don’t forget that bold berry lip! :p

With this look, it’s all about the hat! Adding statement accessory pieces can really work wonders in terms of creating an on trend, yet wearable look, no matter the occasion or season. Make sure you take some ‘snaps’ too – polaroids preferable!

This look just oozes a leisurely ladies lunch date! With a coffee in one hand, and perhaps some shopping bags in the other?, this look is perfect for taking you from the cold to warm in a matter of layers. The boots are SO cute too!

Finally, if you fancy quirking it up a little, why not get creative with your comfys! Wearing heeled boots and a statement necklace with more casual and muted down items, gives the outfit wearability and style.

There are so many more outfits I’d have loved to have shared, but I think it’s time you took a peek for yourself! Do let me know what staple pieces you’re loving this season, and if you’ve styled them up, leave your links in the comments below!

SS14 | Pretty in pastel

It isn’t often I wear a hue of blue, but today I dared to be different, well…sort of! This seasons pastel trend is huge, consequently, my interest in rocking an item of clothing, evoking this magnificent pastel tone, has rapidly grown throughout the past couple of months. I have had this pastel Blue coloured full length playsuit, just sitting in my wardrobe for almost a year now and was a lovely little find from Asos. I knew the structure of the outfit was enough to make a statement on its own, so I was quite pleased that the colour was so delicate, which I thought was very wearable.

In this post, I wanted to prove that paired with a paler complexion, it most certainly can be worn all year round. Most peoples perceptions of pastel colours, is one that is seen to suit more of a tanned skin tone. However, with some complimentary makeup, hair and accessories, anyone can wear it!

I hope to do many more Spring, Summer 2014 trend/outfit posts within the next coming weeks, so do let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to see me post/style up. I have really enjoyed creating this post for you style lovers, and look forward to making the most of the more perhaps un-loved items with my wardrobe, as I know there are some treasures in there, I just have to delve rather deep :).

What are your favourite pastel colours? Leave me links, i’d love to see your outfits too.

We’re saying a huge happy 25th Anniversary to the world wide web!

Happy 25th Anniversary to what we call, the world wide web! Where would we be without it, ay? It has transformed, enhanced and evolved the way in which we educate, the way we work and the way in which most of us spend our spare time! I wanted to touch on this phenomenon within today’s blog post, due to the way I feel it has affected me, throughout my life, growing up. After all, it’s even older than me!

I feel the internet has enabled me to evolve so much, throughout my life, and in one area in particular that I feel tremendously passionate about, has been within my creativity! Being one of the ‘Arty, Farty’ kind, I love a good ol’ trip to a Gallery any day, yet in terms of gaining necessary inspiration, whether it be needed for educational purposes, or just a personal reason, it is so much more accessible now! We don’t even have to leave the house, if we don’t want to! For example, the wonders of Pinterest is a favourite of mine. If i’m ever stuck on interior, fashion, or beauty (you name it), inspo, then I know i’ll have some gained within the space of just a few minutes…with the more than likely accompaniment of a towel on my head. Haha!

This leads me on to talk about the time in which we are able to access, complete and learn something. I remember throughout my School, College and even University days, researching was one of my favourite elements to the ‘Design’ or ‘Styling process’, and for me, actually became a joy! I found myself managing to find out so much more about a subject, that, in turn, pushed me to develop my skills or knowledge even further, which I’m pretty sure is what aided towards me gaining that 1st in my Degree! I also spent hours, searching and trailing through books within my local Library’s, (which I happily did), yet, I found myself being able to complete something ten times faster than I would ever do so within such places, just by logging onto the internet. Which I think is breathtaking and in turn, meant that I could have a lot more free time after completing work.

The majority of the world has developed so quickly, due to this incredible wonder, we call, the world wide web, it’s everywhere! And, we have one main Man to thank for that. On March 12th, 1989, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, made all the above possible and more! Without it, you wouldn’t even be reading this Blog post right now. I happily find myself spending hours a day and mostly at night time, reading and watching online material, in which I can not only relax and zone out too, but I can zone in and ‘hone’ into, in terms of developing and enhancing certain skills, whether they be work, hobby or personal related. The internet just enables me to explore my passions in a way that some would never have been able to dream of, such as our Grandparents, and even some of our Parents! It’s amazing when you think about it, isn’t it? I’ve even been able to reach out to family members who live over in Brazil because of it, thanks to the likes of Facebook etc, and also ‘FaceTime’ my friends when they are no longer round the corner from me, or even if they are, I can say a quick hello in a click of a button!

Therefore, today is a day of thankful thoughts and positive recognitions, towards this magical and calculated creation! Ofcourse, there are many negatives in reference to the web, however today I’ve wanted to touch on the advantages and how much it has made me so much more of a better being! When the internet is being used in the upmost correct and wise way, I believe the world can become a much better place too. For example, there are hundreds of Charities and forums that people can reach out too in times of need. There are experts out there giving out advice and life lessons, that could enable someone to head down the correct career or life path, and there’s a place where many of the same, like minded people can get together to talk about their similar ambitions, passions and hobbies, which I think is a fantastic way of bringing people together and out of their shells. I know that’s what I found anyway.

Ofcourse, the above is only my opinion, yet I really feel strongly in the way the internet has been able to help and even craft the person I have become! I hope that i’m able to be a part of this world for many years to come, especially throughout my future career and in the way I am able to learn about the world :D. I’m also looking forward to seeing the world develop even more so, in terms of technology, medicine and research towards things that we may never have known about before.

I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful day so far, do let me know what you are thankful for in regards to this magical internet land, and remember that there still is a real world out there, that we must still explore! On that note, I’m going for a walk with the pooch :).

Big loves, Hollybobs x

Fresh faced, Natural New Year Makeup

A fresh face can be, well, refreshing! Though, saying that, I adore coating my lashes in mascara and making my eyes a statement, where everything else on my face is pretty bare. With Christmas coming to an end and the New Year approaching, I find it important to take the time to wind down, appreciate what I have around me and basically learn to love what you were born with and enhance features in a more neutral manner.

Like previously stated, my lashes are an element of my face that I enjoy ‘enhancing’ if you will. I never wear false eyelashes, (I have done, I just prefer not too and find that they can give me an overly heavy look), so finding a mascara that will give me a naturally volumising look, is all I need. In this case, shown in the images above and below, I chose to wear one of my favourite mascaras, Maybeline’s ‘The Falsies’. It lengthens and volumises in a rather beautiful and ‘un cakey’ way.

On my eyelids you may be able to see that I’m wearing a few neutral pinky colours from the Naked 3 palette! Before I applied, I prepped and primed my lids with the benefit Lemon aid primer, which is simply gorgeous! I was kindly bought this perfect Urban Decay palette for Christmas, and am loving it. I really love rose gold tones and this palette is full of them! A slight hint of shimmer is all I need for a naturally appealing look. I was also bought a few other items from Ted Baker for xmas, such as this black liquid felt tip like eyeliner, and a new benefit lipstick, which is a rather rare colour for me to wear! I usually go for deep reds, plums and peaches yet never seem to wear much pink, especially soft pink. But, for a change, I’m really enjoying wearing it :).

I’m looking forward to getting dressed back up for New Year, however in the day times, I think i’m going to be doing more of a natural makeup look, that enhances the features and the skin I was born with :). I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and do let me know what natural makeup products you’re loving this month! Also, I’m not sure if you can tell, but I bought myself a brand new camera and am very pleased with the results! In this instance I’ve not edited or touched my photos since I snapped them! I wanted a camera that took more crisp and clearer images, and this canon 700d does just that! Note – I was lucky enough to buy it on Sale, from Currys and used all of the money I received from Xmas to go towards it.

Tartan printed skirt & a cherry bobble Xmas jumper!

To me, Christmas is the perfect excuse to begin experimenting with warm clothing. It’s fun to dress up what you may think is a casual item, when really it can provide perfect versatility…(due to its fabric, feel and over all fabulousness)! I wanted to share with you something that has made me have all the Christmassy nostalgic feelings, all because of a couple of garments! – (That combined with visiting somewhere with a mass of fairy lights and an over load of other xmassy decor, could potentially make my excitable brain even more excited).

I purchased this gorgeously snuggly berry red jumper from H&M for £7.99! I know! I actually aimed to wear it to bed as I have been feeling the cold more than ever as of late, however the second I bought it home to show the Mother Goose, the exact words that came out of her mouth were ‘ you can’t wear that to bed!, that’s far too lovely’…and you know what, she was right! It is too lovely to wear to bed. I had picked it up thinking what a bobbly bargain! what with its beautifully soft yet structured look and striking Christmas colour. So, the next day I immediately put it on for work and decided to pair it with a petite pencil, tartan printed skirt, from the one and only Topshop. And I have to say, the compliments I received that day about it were truly blush worthy!

Pairing something so comfortable, practical and stylish with something equally as scrumptious, has genuinely made me feel like Mrs Christmas! Plus wearing such rich colours at this time of year, I feel, can lift your mood and over all presence. If you feel good about what you’re wearing, you can see it shine through your smile…thats how I felt anyway that day at work! And I know, I will be wearing it for many times to come. Maybe on Christmas day!
