If you’ve already read my previous post regarding my weekly happenings and the reasoning behind it, then you will know why I have introduced this weekly ramblings about what I’ve been up too & why each occasion, day or time has been a meaningful one for me. If you haven’t, go and have a peak so you can understand a little more about why I’m documenting this, along side my usual Fashion & styling posts :).
So, this week has been one of reflection, home comforts and the releasing of my inner child, ahem, in the sense that I began to get very excited about Christmas and the whole festive winter season…(this is most likely due to many of the high street visual window displays, successfully luring me in) ;).
I ran out of my red velvet cupcake scrummy yankee candle which I light without fail most evenings, so ofcourse I wanted to check out some new scents and to my delight, yankee have bought out their Christmas range! :). I literally could not choose one scent, so I decided to get a pack of 3 smaller ones, which included ‘Christmas cookie’, ‘Christmas Eve’ & ‘Apple & pine needles’. All of which make me get a warm & fuzzy feeling in my belly whenever I smell them. I also begin to reflect on how fast the year has gone and how much I am actually looking forward to this Christmas.
Talking of Christmas, whilst I was out food shopping, Sainsbury’s also have out all of their Christmas items, both food and general novelty products! Now, over the past few years, I have always left it too late to get an advent calendar, usually due to me just forgetting and letting the season run away from me too quickly and the shops never seem to stock enough, by the time I actually remember to grab one. So, I decided to bite the bullet and over to the advent isle I went. I picked myself up this cute Snowman thorntons one and also grabbed a milky bar one for my boyfy, as his favourite chocolate is white chocolate :p (we are such big kids), but you know it’s a nice and fun start to the day once you open that unknown door of yumminess!
It’s nearly been a year since I moved into my new home, with my parents and it’s taken me a long time to get used to it and the area, despite how lovely it actually is. So, making the most of ‘my space’ aka my bedroom has been really important to me lately, as let’s face it, due to this current financial situation for most young people, I’m not going to be moving out for a good while, which I what I thought I’d be planning to do at the age of 23! I want to make my room as cosy and as homely as possible, where I can work and escape too…to just chill, relax and yet keep my focus. I don’t normally splurge on ‘housey’ thangs, except the odd yankee candle :p, however I couldn’t resist this ombre knitted pillow, from Next this week. It’s fresh, cosy and such a soothing item to cuddle up too in the evenings, whilst planning my next blog post or project for work :). It’s the little things that really make me feel at home. And to me, it’s important to create a peaceful atmosphere.
I’ve also been noticing how calm and comfortable my duckys are too :). We basically moved into a tiny little cottage around this time last year and they were here before we were. They get on with my dog, moocher, well now and they’re just so interesting to watch, from peering from outside of my window every day. I’m also being able to watch their habitat change around them, i.e the plants and bushes that surround their little pond area, now that we are fully out of the brighter summer season. Now that Autumn has arrived, everything is becoming more crisp around them. I love it. Plus they’re adoring this sort of weather! As soon as a rain storm heads our way they’re diving in the grass, just waiting for a juicy worm to pop up to the surface. Yak :p.
I went to see the incredible Jessie J on Friday with my little sister, who’s so into music, she’s taken it up to study. Jessie J had cancelled her tour for two years running due to a variety of reasons, but my lordy was it worth the wait!!! Her voice is breathtaking and she’s actually much more of a humble and down to earth girl than I first thought of her. Her performances were flawless aswell as her outfits! Congrats to her stylist, you did gurrrd! I have found an all new love and respect for this lady, so I was very pleased that I got to go and see her.
Also this week, I’ve been developing my graphic design skills a little more by designing a promotional advertisement for my work (an Evening wear company). I absolutely love getting creative and by just experimenting and beginning something, the outcome can be much more successful than you can at first anticipate, which I’m actually quite pleased with and hope I get more opportunities to do more with.
Other than that, not much else has been going on with my week…I’ve just been generally working lots, enjoying it and just spending my evenings at home and cooking for friends & the boy. I look forward to seeing what next week brings. Big loves x
