Fresh faced, Natural New Year Makeup

A fresh face can be, well, refreshing! Though, saying that, I adore coating my lashes in mascara and making my eyes a statement, where everything else on my face is pretty bare. With Christmas coming to an end and the New Year approaching, I find it important to take the time to wind down, appreciate what I have around me and basically learn to love what you were born with and enhance features in a more neutral manner.

Like previously stated, my lashes are an element of my face that I enjoy ‘enhancing’ if you will. I never wear false eyelashes, (I have done, I just prefer not too and find that they can give me an overly heavy look), so finding a mascara that will give me a naturally volumising look, is all I need. In this case, shown in the images above and below, I chose to wear one of my favourite mascaras, Maybeline’s ‘The Falsies’. It lengthens and volumises in a rather beautiful and ‘un cakey’ way.

On my eyelids you may be able to see that I’m wearing a few neutral pinky colours from the Naked 3 palette! Before I applied, I prepped and primed my lids with the benefit Lemon aid primer, which is simply gorgeous! I was kindly bought this perfect Urban Decay palette for Christmas, and am loving it. I really love rose gold tones and this palette is full of them! A slight hint of shimmer is all I need for a naturally appealing look. I was also bought a few other items from Ted Baker for xmas, such as this black liquid felt tip like eyeliner, and a new benefit lipstick, which is a rather rare colour for me to wear! I usually go for deep reds, plums and peaches yet never seem to wear much pink, especially soft pink. But, for a change, I’m really enjoying wearing it :).

I’m looking forward to getting dressed back up for New Year, however in the day times, I think i’m going to be doing more of a natural makeup look, that enhances the features and the skin I was born with :). I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and do let me know what natural makeup products you’re loving this month! Also, I’m not sure if you can tell, but I bought myself a brand new camera and am very pleased with the results! In this instance I’ve not edited or touched my photos since I snapped them! I wanted a camera that took more crisp and clearer images, and this canon 700d does just that! Note – I was lucky enough to buy it on Sale, from Currys and used all of the money I received from Xmas to go towards it.

Rose pink winter playsuit

As part of this Winter styling series, I wanted to include one of my favourite kind of accessory item – The bobble hat! Although my one may look like a tea cosy, it is the most snuggly hat I have ever owned! Bought from Bershka, it’s soft and subtle grey colour, combined with is cosy texture, I feel, completes any winter themed outfit, if venturing out the house.

Along with my bobble hat I have found the perfect dress up or dress down accompaniment! A rose pink, petite playsuit! Being the teeny tiny 5 foot 1 size that I am, I have struggled in the past to find a fitted and appropriately lengthed garment, without it swamping my lil legs! However when I went into Topshop, not long ago in my nearest home town, Solihull…this caught my eye straight away and I found the perfect one!

I tried on this pretty playsuit and immediately fell in love with its soft toned colour and simplistic structure. Topshop is also well known for its variety of petite garments, so once it was on, I was more than satisfied with its flattering shape! Also, as some of you may have known from my past few tweets and fb messages, that I also work for an evening wear boutique, called Lilly-Lou! (I do a lot of the Marketing, PR, online & in store advising and general management of any kind of up and coming fashion show or fashion shoot), and this week was a celebration of our 1 year anniversary! As a result, I aided in the organisation of having an exclusive open evening to give the buying public, bloggers and other creatives a true opportunity to join us in the showcasing of our stunning collections!

After many weeks & possibly months of organising the event, ofcourse one important factor that played on my mind was what on earth I was going to wear. (Oh the priorities of a Fashion lover!). Consequently since bringing this beautiful playsuit home, I knew it was professional, classic and versatile enough to dress up and wear to such a celebratory yet formal event! The night was an overall success and I will share a commencing post all about the evening very soon, if you’re interested ofcourse!?

Yet, for now I would love to share with you my latest styling of this garment, and understand how something so simple can look so frosty and cool toned, in this current snuggle season! I purchased a thick and snuggly aztec printed scarf, last year from H&M, and found it to go really well, once paired with something with a more pastel toned coloured garment – it was also of course keeping me very warm :). Joining the outfit, nothing would be complete without a hint of subtle sparkle…so, I put on my Swarovski necklace that was so kindly bought for my by my boyfriend and my D&G watch, which was also a gift for my Birthday. Both are stunning with any toned down outfit!

Let me know if you know of any other fab petite ranges that are out at the moment and which winter style pieces you’re styling up with your snuggly hat and other winter accessories!

Tartan printed skirt & a cherry bobble Xmas jumper!

To me, Christmas is the perfect excuse to begin experimenting with warm clothing. It’s fun to dress up what you may think is a casual item, when really it can provide perfect versatility…(due to its fabric, feel and over all fabulousness)! I wanted to share with you something that has made me have all the Christmassy nostalgic feelings, all because of a couple of garments! – (That combined with visiting somewhere with a mass of fairy lights and an over load of other xmassy decor, could potentially make my excitable brain even more excited).

I purchased this gorgeously snuggly berry red jumper from H&M for £7.99! I know! I actually aimed to wear it to bed as I have been feeling the cold more than ever as of late, however the second I bought it home to show the Mother Goose, the exact words that came out of her mouth were ‘ you can’t wear that to bed!, that’s far too lovely’…and you know what, she was right! It is too lovely to wear to bed. I had picked it up thinking what a bobbly bargain! what with its beautifully soft yet structured look and striking Christmas colour. So, the next day I immediately put it on for work and decided to pair it with a petite pencil, tartan printed skirt, from the one and only Topshop. And I have to say, the compliments I received that day about it were truly blush worthy!

Pairing something so comfortable, practical and stylish with something equally as scrumptious, has genuinely made me feel like Mrs Christmas! Plus wearing such rich colours at this time of year, I feel, can lift your mood and over all presence. If you feel good about what you’re wearing, you can see it shine through your smile…thats how I felt anyway that day at work! And I know, I will be wearing it for many times to come. Maybe on Christmas day!

Snuggle up beauts, Winter’s on it’s way!

i2style snuggle up this winter

Todays Fashion Style post consists of more faux fur, autumnal prints and an introduction to the magical season, also known as Winter! If you haven’t read already, this frosty season is one of my favourites…predominantly due to the gorgeous fashion trends floating around this time.

I recently went to an event hosted by next, also known as the Next Blogger Network. I had the opportunity to take a sneak peak into some of their AW13 collection and got so excited, that the next week I had to visit my local Next store and purchase something that evoked Next’s true style! As the nights have been drawing in earlier, and my mornings to work have begun to become more of a frosty occasion, this faux fur cape caught my eye at immediately! And I’m not going to lie, I’ve pretty much been wearing it every day since!

It’s long back structure, combined with it’s trendy charocal grey colour makes it such a versatile and easy item to accessorise! I paired the cape with this butterfly printed playsuit, black leggings and ofcourse a pair of wedges! I am also going out tonight, and I’m pretty sure it’s coming out with me then too ;). Have you bought a quality, versatile and essential piece of winter clothing recently? I’d love to see some links!

Cool toned, textured Winter Fashion

i2style

i2style textured winter fashion

There’s no denying that I adore Autumn, Winter…predominantly due to its gorgeous Fashion season and crispy, fresh mornings! So, what better way to get more acquainted with the developing season, than by posting an appropriate Fashion Post, from the outdoors of my own wonderful, leaf crunching garden!

I’m a huge fan of simple textures, features and subtle embellishments upon all sorts of Fashion garments and I find it particularly intriguing and exciting when two or three textures come together, to form one fabulous over all look. The inner stylist in me lives for experimentation, creative/alternative ideas and general ‘play’ arounds of different types of outfits. So, when I opened my wardrobe this morning, I decided to specifically look for something that would work really well for this time of year, yet put together something with a little more umph and strike to the eye!

There were a few items that jumped out at me the most today, and those were the features of studs, spikes and faux fur! These aren’t normally the standard ‘go to’ items that I grab for an every day look, however today was different. Consequently, I threw on my trusty pair of leggings, (as I wanted to involve a level of comfort) and began to put together a few items. As you can see by the images below, my choices were, like stated previously, comfort based, with a hint of snuggly, fresh colours and textures!

I decided to pair an ombre coloured grey & cream jumper, featuring embellished, faux leather, studded shoulder pieces, with a bright faux fur turquoise ‘tube scarf’…both items from Topshop! These items displayed cool tones of similarity and actually went together really well. I could imagine this looking really eye-catching, in the height of snow season…Ooh I can just see that crisp, white snow falling around the striking hues of blues and looking just marvellous! 😀

It’s easy putting together items that are totally different. I find that garments like this can be easily pulled together with a monotoned or more subtle trouser/legging and boot. In terms of my Makeup today, I decided it would be nice to get a cooler toned berry lip on the go, with some striking glitter eye liner as a friendly accompaniment.

If you’ve put together some cool, textured garments lately, that are perfect for this Autumn/Winter season, what have they been?…i’d love to see them! :)
